Desde finales de 2012, Renault anunció que devolverÃa a la vida a Alpine, una marca que muchos recuerdan por sus modelos deportivos, tanto de competición como de calle.
Aunque el primer modleo de la marca no será una realidad hasta 2016, la marca del rombo ha querido adelantar la vuelta de Alpine a los circuitos. Para ellos ha elegido un marco inmejorable: el campeonato ELMS (European Le Mans Series), cuya prueba estrella son las 24 horas de Le Mans.
Para ello Alpine se ha inscrito con un prototipo LMP2 Alpine, que según Renault cuenta con un motor de unos 500 CV. Los pilotos serán Pierre Ragues y Nelson Panciatici.
Hay que recordar que para Alpine no es la primera experiencia en competición. De hecho Alpine ya participó en 11 ocasiones en Le Mans, entre 1.963 y 1.978, obteniendo la victoria absoluta en 1.978, con el prototipo A442B, con Jean Pierre Jaussaud y Didier Pironi como pilotos.
El comienzo de esta aventura será el próximo 13 de abril de Silverstone, con la primera prueba del campeonato ELMS. Por tanto, es más que probable que dentro de poco tengamos las primeras imágenes del primer Alpine que compite en Le Mans tras 35 años.
