Como muchos sabéis, un temporal sobre la Península Ibérica nos ha dejado precipitaciones en forma de nieve. Da la casualidad que desde una ventana de mi casa se ve una rampa que ayer estaba completamente helada. Experimento: ¿Qué coches saldrán enteros de tan gallardo desafio?.
Es de suponer que aquellos que tienen control de tracción y motricidad en el eje delantero subirán mejor la rampa. Un BMW Serie 3 Coupe hizo toda una demostración, haciendo buena está teoría, ya que no consiguió ganarle ni siquiera un par de metros a su particular Mont Blanc. Sin embargo un VW Passat hizo una buena arrancada, pero a medio camino tuvo que pararse a poner las cadenas. He aquí la sorpresa, un Seat Ibiza nuevo (especifíco porque en la nueva generación el ESP sí es de serie), superó el repecho, no sin dificultades pero existosamente. Y es que interviene aquí un factor nuevo, el peso. Sistemáticamente aquellos coches pequeños de tracción delantera “coronaban” la rampa.
Ahora bien, ¿Qué papel tiene aquí la tracción integral? Costó esperar hasta que apareciera algún incauto con ganas de probar suerte pero finalmente pudimos tomar nota para elaborar nuestra particular estadística: todos los tracción integral subían sin mayores problemas. No obstante, en este particular experimento pronto nos daríamos cuenta de que lo más complicado no es subir, sino bajar, y aquí desde luego vimos a un ganador indiscutible: El Land Rover Discovery 4. Intentaron llegar hasta abajo todo tipo de coches, SUV, monovolúmenes, turismos disfrazados de camperos (Audi Allroad), y el descontrol era generalizado. La mayoría llegaban al final con las ruedas atascadas mecidos por la mano de la gravedad. Los golpes que se oían y una señal de tráfico que acabó tumbada son testigos. Sin duda el sistema Terrain Response y el Control de Descenso de Pendientes que incorpora el Discovery tienen toda la culpa del paso lento pero seguro de este todo terreno. Lamentablente la imagen que nos dejó el resto no fue tan buena; nos fuimos a la cama contando golpes en lugar de ovejas y pensando que el que necesite un todoterreno, mejor que se compre uno de verdad.
