Cuando Mercedes-Benz presentó en nuevo CLA, pocos pensaron que podrÃa rivalizar con el Clase C. El planteamiento de ambos coches es bastante distinto: El Mercedes-Benz CLA es un modelo en el que el diseño coupé está priorizado sobre otras variables, como la habitabilidad interior, y además tiene un interior más juvenil, inspirado en el modelo en el que se basa, el Mercedes-Benz Clase A.
Además, y como consecuencia se usar la plataforma del nuevo MB Clase A, el CLA es tracción delantera. Es un detalle que para muchos puede pasar inadvertido, pero que proporciona una diferencia sustancial. Sin embargo en Audi las cosas son distintas.
El recién presentado Audi A3 Sedan no cuenta con unas formas muy atractivas y claramente diferenciadas de su hermano mayor, el Audi A4, aunque sà debemos reconocerle un carácter propio. Además, ambos son tracción delantera, y eso hace que tengan mucho más que ver entre sà que los dos modelos de Mercedes-Benz.
Por tanto, ¿qué podrÃa hacer Audi para que el Audi A3 Sedan no capte parte de las ventas del A4? Pues hacer que tenga un tamaño exterior mucho más pequeño que sus, a priori, rivales, y un precio en consonancia.
De hecho, el Audi A3 Sedan mide unos sorprendentes 4,46 metros, mientras que un Mercedes-Benz CLA se sube hasta los 4,63. Si lo comparamos con su hermano mayor, el Audi A4, la diferencia es importante, ya que este mide 4,70 metros.
La verdad es que resulta complicado encontrar en el mercado español una berlina que mida tan poco. Digo mercado español a sabiendas de que estoy restringiendo mucho la búsqueda, ya que en otros mercados, como Estados Unidos o China, sà podemos encontrar algunos modelos similares, ya que allà la carrocerÃa sedán tiene mucha aceptación.
La otra variable distintiva de este modelo, el precio, será definitoria. El precio de partida con el motor de gasolina TFSI de 140 CV (habrá un TFSI de 180 CV y un 2.0 TDI de 150 CV) será de unos 27.600 euros, y más adelante deberÃan llegar variantes más baratas. Por tanto la diferencia con el A3 Sportback será de unos 1.000 euros.
Si lo comparamos con el rival más parecido que podemos encontrar, el Mercedes-Benz CLA, la diferencia de precio es importante, ya que el modelo de la estrella parte, con el motor gasolina de 122 CV es de 31.500 euros, aunque presumiblemente con un equipamiento más completo. Además, como hemos dicho, el precio de base del nuevo modelo de Audi será aún más bajo.
La conclusión de todo este análisis es que Audi ha conseguido sacarse de la manga un nuevo segmento resucitando las berlinas de un tamaño que hace tiempo que no veÃamos, consiguiendo, por el momento, un planteamiento que no tiene rival directo, y que sin embargo puede ser muy atractivo para muchos.
