Ya dijimos en su día que el mundo del automóvil, y especialmente el de los Salones y presentaciones internacionales, está lleno de medias verdades e inexactitudes disimuladas, casi siempre buscando publicitarse. Mini no es una excepción, y el Concept Beachcomber volvió a demostrar que los ejercicios técnicos cada vez adelantan menos las futuras líneas de producción.

Con menos de dos meses de diferencia, resulta difícil convencerse de que los alemanes han trabajado sobre las impresiones que el Concept dejó en Detroit; es más lógico intuir que ya tenían preparado el modelo de preserie, llamado en esta ocasión Countryman, y que el primero tuvo el cometido de ser un panel luminoso con luces de neón. La versión definitiva ha dejado de lado, como imaginábamos, el formato sin puertas (por cierto que las nuevas, a diferencia del resto de la gama, llevan marco) y SUV, para dejar paso a un Mini allroad sin prácticamente ninguna aspiración de salir del asfalto.

En cualquier caso, fueron bonitos aquellos momentos en los que pensábamos que veríamos un Mini sin cerraduras; lo bueno es que volverán. En el próximo Salón.
