En mi opinión utilizar un navegador GPS tiene aspectos positivos y negativos (depende de la forma en que lo utilicemos). Lo que no me imaginaba es que entre los efectos negativos pudiera estar que el navegador se incendiara.
Efectivamente Garmin acaba de anunciar que tendrá que revisar 1,25 millones de navegadores, modelo nüvi, debido a que un defecto en las baterÃas puede provocar que la unidad se sobrecaliente hasta el punto de llegar a incendiarse.
Hasta el momento la compañÃa sólo ha tenido conocimiento de que esta situación se haya producido en menos de diez ocasiones con unidades del navegador nüvi y afirmó no haber recibido informes de que este eventual defecto haya provocado accidentes ni lesiones a los propietarios de los mismos.
La mayor parte de las unidades afectadas (796.000) fueron vendidas en Estados Unidos, y al parecer la culpa es del provedor de las baterÃas, que fueron especialmente desarrolladas para estos modelos.
Sinceramente no entiendo como pueden pasar estas cosas. Puedo comprender que haya fallos de fabricación puntuales en aparatos de alta tecnologÃa, pero cuándo hablamos de seguridad vial, es crucial mantener un nivel mÃnimo de seguridad que garantice que mi navegador no va a empezar a arder mientras conduzco por una autopista.
No digo que los aparatos electrónicos tengan que ser infalibles, pero si, por poner un ejemplo, mi cámara de fotos formatea la tarjeta de memoria, será frustante, pero desde luego el daño causado no es comparable al que puede producir un navegador en llamas dentro de un habitáculo de un vehÃculo.
Me parece increÃble que Garmin haya cometido un error tan de bulto, la verdad..cuestan una pasta!
