El fabricante británico, recientemente comprado junto con Jaguar por Tata, ha decidido incluir en la renovación del Freelander, el Evoque, la posibilidad de montar tracción delantera.
Se trata de una medida que pretende reducir costes en los vehÃculos de entrada a la gama, pero que sin embargo puede costar caro a una compañia que basa buena parte de sus ventas en una histórica imagen off-road.
Y es que la tradición cuenta más de lo que ahora Land Rover parece demostrar, y olvida que sus habilidades camperas son las que han permitido al fabricante mantenerse a flote. Alguien de BMW debe estar ahora disfrutando de su acierto de separarla de Rover y venderla de manera separada a Ford.
La buena noticia es que se presenta un modelo, el Evoque, con diseño suficiente para hacer frente a los superventas del segemento, como el Tiguan y el Audi Q5. A su favor, aunque por demostrar, la capacidad de afrontar obstáculos donde acaba la carretera. En contra, engrosar la lista de los SUV que no salen de los aparcamientos de un centro comercial, y decepcionar a los clientes históricos de la marca.
