En el verano de 2008 el Opel Insignia llegaba a España. SustituÃa al Opel Vectra, y el salto fue sencillamente brutal. Al Vectra se le acabaron notando los años de manera escandalosa, y por fin, tras mucho esperar, llegó el esperado Insignia.
El modelo introdujo entonces algunos sistemas realmente novedosos en su segmento, como el lector de señales, los faros con iluminación inteligente o los modos de conducción.
Todos estos avances se han ido generalizando en la competencia, e incluso en su hermano pequeño, el Opel Astra. Asà pues, tocaba ponerse al dÃa, y eso han hecho los responsables de GM. Fundamentalmente se ha avanzado en tres áreas: motorizaciones, imagen e infotaiment.
En cuanto al primer aspecto, ahora la gama Opel Insignia cuenta con un diésel de 2 litros en potencias de 120 y 140 CV, que homologan un consumo medio de 3,7 litros (99 gramos de dióxido de carbono) a los 100 km (0,2 litros más en la versión con carrocerÃa familiar). También se ofrece una motorización diésel de BiTurbo de 195 CV y 400 Nm con un consumo por determinar.
Para los que prefieran motores gasolina, hay dos opciones, el ya conocido, aunque recién presentado,  1.6 SIDI de 170 CV, y un nuevo 2.0 SIDI de 245 CV.  Además habrá una versión de 325 CV, montada como no, en la versión deportiva. Parece que los anteriores 1.4 Turbo no acabaron de funcionar, y la verdad es que no eran malos motores, pero buscando consumos reducidos y suavidad, se eligieron relaciones de cambio muy largas y unas prestaciones bastante discretas que no les dejaban en buen lugar en comparación con la versión diésel de 160 CV. Además habrá una versión de GLP de 140 CV y un consumo de 7,6 litros/100 km.
Otro de los aspectos que se ha cambiado es el aspecto exterior e interior del modelo, que se ha puesto al dÃa. Por fuera los cambios en la parte delantera son poco importantes, pero en la parte trasera el modelo se inspira en el Opel Astra Sedán. Creo que es más agradable ahora, pero pierde diferenciación y personalidad propia sobre un modelo más barato, y eso no siempre es positivo. Por dentro hay algunas mejoras, centradas especialmente en la consola central, que ha sido simplificada.Â
En cuanto al último elemento, el multimedia, ha sido completamente puesto al dÃa, en gran medida gracias a una nueva pantalla táctil central. Se ha mejorado la conectividad, las posibilidades de los comandos de voz, y ahora hasta es posible incluir una pantalla de 8 pulgadas en el cuadro de mandos. Por el momento no tenemos más detalles, por ejemplo sobre los precios, pero se espera que llegue al mercado de manera inminente.
