La marca del león vuelve a dar muestra de su tradición deportiva, que no por poco conocida deja de ser real. Tan cierto como que han conseguido fabricar magnÃficos deportivos sobre la base de vehÃculos urbanos. Y aquà esta el quid de la cuestión.
El RCZ no es, a diferencia de modelos pasados como el excelente Peugeot 206 RC, la modificación de un modelo de abultadas ventas. Se trata de un coupé de concepción semejante a un Audi TT, o a un Nissan 370Z. Por tanto sobran las excusas: las compartivas ya pueden ser tan directas como el mercado quiera que sean.
Por lo que sà sabemos hasta el momento, empiezan con buenas maneras, al menos en cuanto a lo que polÃtica de venta y motorizaciones se refiere. Por un lado, han anunciado una versión de acceso a la gama por algo menos de 30.000 euros, y por otros, sabemos de la comercialización de un motor de 1.6 litros de cubicaje sobrealimentado y 200 CV de potencia.
Lo primero permitirá a Peugeot entrar en el juego de los tamaños (como, por ejemplo, hacen KIA o Dacia con sus SUVs), y lo segundo alcanzar, aunque a duras penas, la carrera desenfrenada de potencias emprendida para los deportivos de cada gama.
De todas maneras, conviene recordar dos datos. En primer lugar, que por los mismos 30.00 euros, un VW Golf GTI ofrece casi 40 CV más de potencia que los 156 del francés (ya dependerá de cuanto valore cada conductor el estilo de la carrocerÃa), y en segundo, que es difÃcil encontrar un rival de proporciones semejantes en ese nivel de precio.
Ahora, y hablando desde el más estricto plano de la opinión personal, me temo que no puedo si no suspender estrepitosamente el nivel de acabados interiores. Jubilar el diseño del volante y el selector de cambio comienza a ser tarea obligada. Cuando tengamos la oportunidad de probarlo tendremos más información al respecto.
