En Honda sin embargo, piensan que pueden morder la suculenta manzana de las berlinas premium, y por eso renovaron a principios de este año el Legend. Evidentemente, las anteriores tres generaciones (incluyendo colaboraciones en el desarrollo con Rover y Daewoo) no les han desanimado.

Los japoneses ofrecen un producto bien facturado, bien equipado (tracción integral inteligente y sistema de pre-colisión), pero caro y, personalmente, poco afortunadamente diseñado. Es difÃcil justificar los casi seis mil euros de sobreprecio con respecto a, por ejemplo, el BMW 525xi(52.500 euros), teniendo en cuenta los parecidos razonables del interior con su hermano pequeño, el Accord (que a su vez integra elementos comunes con el Insight y el Civic Hybrid).
En cualquier caso, parece lógico pensar que una casa del tamaño y la historia de Honda trate de hacer sombra a los alemanes; antes que ellos Nissan se lanzó al mercado de las berlinas de representación, cosechando magnÃficos resultados contra todo pronóstico (Carlos Ghon mediante, claro). La historia es caprichosa si se mira con suficiente perspectiva; casi al mismo tiempo que iniciaban el proyecto del Legend, los ingenieros nipones imaginaron, quizá sin saberlo, el proyecto que revolucionará la movilidad, y seguramente la obtención de energÃa, del ser humano: el FCX Clarity.
Reconocido como el primer vehÃculo de producción en serie dotado con una pila de combustible, es el primer paso hacia una economÃa basada en el elemento más común en el Universo. Claro que siempre pueden seguir intentando encordar raquetas.
