A lo largo de la jornada de ayer, y como ya habÃamos adelantado, tuvimos la oportunidad de realizar una prueba de conducción a bordo del KIA Venga. Ya tuvimos una toma de contacto con el vehÃculo anteriormente, y algunas de nuestras impresiones de entonces se han mantenido. Otras no tanto.
La principal razón por la que nuestra opinión ha variado se debe a las condiciones a las que en esta segunda ocasión hemos sometido al modelo coreano. Después de un recorrido interurbano, por carreteras de doble sentido con reduccciones de marcha para atravesar rotondas, accedimos a un pequeño circuito.
Por cierto que el recorrido durante el trayecto inicial el ordenador de a bordo indicaba un consumo de 5.7 litros de gasolina cada 100 km. Utilizamos en varias ocasiones toda la aceleración disponible, lo que hace que sea un buen dato si asumimos que el sistema tiene un reflejo fiel de la realidad, pero sobre todo si observamos el consumo homologado; para la versión 1.4 CVVT Concept es de 5,5 litros por cada cien kilómetros de carretera.
Una vez dentro de las instalaciones, tuvimos la ocasión de pasar por tres zonas; un slalom con conos, un test de frenada asimétrica (las ruedas de un único lado del vehÃculo se hayan sobre pavimento muy deslizante) y finalmente un trazado de karts, especialmente indicado para forzar cambios de apoyo repentinos.
Subidos en el Venga, llama la atención la posición de conducción, marcadamente tendida sobre el volante y relativamente inclinada con respecto a los mandos de pie. Esto quiere decir que resulta muy fácil girar el volante una vuelta completa sin necesidad de utilizar obligatoriamente la parte superior del aro.
La dirección está suficientemente asistida como para poder girar el vehÃculo 90 grados con una única mano (como ocurre en un giro a una calle perpedicular mientras cambiamos de marcha) sin demasiado esfuerzo. La palanca de cambios, por su parte, está ligeramente elevada, pero afortunadamente, no se percibe que el recorrido al engranar marchas pares sea demasiado largo, como si ocurre por ejemplo en un Opel Astra.
Nos parece acertada la fórmula empleada por KIA (durante todo el dÃa nos repitieron que ahora es KIA-Hyundai, por lo que sus ventas son parte del cuarto fabricante mundial) en los interiores. Han optado por la Fórmula VW. Sobriedad, correción en los acabados, y prudencia. Si no estás seguro de cómo vaya a funcionar un material o forma, es que no merece la pena el coste de instalarlo.
Encontramos muy buen tacto en algunos mandos, como los de el equipo de sonido, y algunos detalles poco comprensibles para un modelo de nueva factura. Es difÃcil comprender por qué se alternan buenos ajustes y láminas de aspecto lustroso (las que recubren el ordenador de a bordo central) con elementos poco atractivos, como los los accionadores de los limpiaparabrisas y de los intermitentes.
En lo relativo a la información del conductor, hallamos muy positivo la inclusión de sistemas de registro parciales e instantáneos. Es decir, que el Venga es capaz de informarnos del consumo o la distancia recorrida en intervalos programados por sus ocupantes. Aunque pueda parecer habitual, algunos modelos como el Toyota Prius sólo facilitan estos parámetros en perÃodos fijos, lo que hace difÃcil compararlos con condiciones variables o con otros coches.
Aunque es cierto que detectamos balanceos de la carrocerÃa muy pequeños (ni siquiera en fuertes apoyos, o en cambios bruscos notamos el temido rebote) no debe tomarse al KIA como un turismo convencional. Si bien en la mayorÃa de las ocasiones será esa la sensación, conviene recordar que alcanza la mismas cotas exteriores de los urbanos tipo A (como un Ford Fiesta) pero homologa 440 litros de maletero.
Volante de Oro: para los acabados más que correctos del interior, la ergonomÃa y habitabilidad. Relación calidad precio.
Volante de Chocolate: para ciertos mandos, la imposibilidad de actuar en el ordenador de a bordo sin continuar mirando a la carreteta y el programador de velocidad, que no cuenta con memoria.
